One Man's Globetrotting Quest for Genius

The Leonard Lopate Show | Dec 30, 2015

Travel writer Eric Weiner attempts to discover why certain places are known for creative breakthroughs and cultural achievements... while others are not. His book, The Geography of Genius: A Search for the World's Most Creative Places from Ancient Athens to Silicon Valley, takes us to Renaissance Florence, ancient Athens, Song Dynasty Hangzhou and Silicon Valley to find out whether creative genius depends on where you live. He looks for the connections among these sites, examines whether certain cities are more conducive to ingenuity, and looks at culture’s role in nurturing creativity.

Event: Eric Weiner will be at Watchung Booksellers in Montclair, NJ tonight at 7 p.m. Click here for details.
